Il saggio espone i primi risultati di una ricerca sulle rappresentazioni del femminicidio in ambito giudiziario in Italia, illustrandone il quadro teorico, le scelte metodologiche, l’impianto analitico, gli strumenti. Intimate partner violence and domestic violence refer to the violation of women’s rights, often provoked by socio-cultural norms based on a patriarchal matrix. In Mexican society, in particular, gender-based violence affects the physical and psychological well-being of Mexican women. Moreover, the social representations of women who suffer violence and the lack of an effective legislative framework often reproduce the legitimation of gender-based violence, enhancing negative stereotypes and prejudices. Mechanisms of the Embedding of Extortion Racket Systems: The case of Cosa Nostra

The chapter summarises some of the research undertaken in the EU project GLODERS which is directed towards investigating the dynamics of extortion racket systems (ERS) of which the Sicilian Mafia is but one example (http://www.gloders.eu/). Before describing in more detail the principal formal characteristics of the Mafia-type organizations and the ways in which the extortion racket system works in a certain territory it is necessary to briefly outline what is a mafia-type organization and what we mean when we talk about the extortion racket system. The chapter propose an analysis of the mechanisms of the process of extortion in Sicily.

AbstractThis paper presents the results of a research on the representations of femicide in the judicial field, in Italy. The use of the term femicide is analysed through the lens of the normative process, examining its social meanings and questioning its political and economic anchoring using the “juridical field” model (Bourdieu 1986). Spostando l’attenzione dalla dimensione della verità a quella della veridizione e analizzando la sentenza come una battaglia dialettica che ridefinisce i confini delle identità degli attori coinvolti, il libro propone l’esame di un caso di femminicidio andato in giudizio nel dicembre del 2015. È l’omicidio di una donna che viene insolitamente definito dai giudici come un femminicidio e il cui movente è rinvenuto nel desiderio di possesso dell’omicida nei confronti della vittima.
